Confused about domain names and hosting?

Domain names are the website address that you type into a web browser, such as http://www.meettheateam.com.  Domain names are what point users to your website. These can be purchased through many companies, but I would recommend GoDaddy. There are always promo codes that let you purchase the first year for under $10.

Hosting is where the files for your website are physically stored on a server.  There are different types of hosting, because you can get servers that only your websites are on or servers that are shared with others. Hosting is more expensive than purchasing a domain name. The price will vary depending on the type of server you choose. GoDaddy and HostGator are good options.

Domain names and hosting work together to display a website. If you have only one of the two, your website will not work.
